About us
IgniteAI is a community-led programme that leverages the power of the model of sports NZ and Y-Combinater that helps people in Aotearoa New Zealand start and grow AI-driven startups — with clear weekly or biweekly goals. You are getting support from real people who are keen to help you to succeed, and together we make NZ strong in AI.
Why IgniteAI - He aha i whiriwhiri ai i a IgniteAI
Shift to an AI-driven world is happening fast, you will see sea change not in 10 years, but in 1000 days. More people will need to create their own work or business — by choice or by necessity — and we want New Zealand founders to be ready and thrive with community help from our coaches, domain experts, volunteers, investors, and also other peer founders.
What we do - Ā mātou mahi
We run a short, intense programme (10 weeks or 20 weeks) that pushes founders to focus on growth, by setting the right goal, building product, talking to users, and growing compoundingly — week after week — leading to a Demo Day, where they can demo to more power users and also potential investors that could get them to next level. So that they are not just surviving but also thriving.
We aren’t a traditional incubator. We are a high-performance growth league for startups. We are a social fabric where founders grow faster and bigger by combining the grit of NZ sports culture with YC-style discipline. Our members leverage an AI-driven learning library, structured coaching, and a powerful community network with peer funders, coaches, domain experts, volunteers, and investors to turn early-stage ideas into market leaders.
How we do it - Me pēhea tā mātou mahi
- Apply & screen – founders apply; mentors and investors help assess fit and potential
- Matching phase - to connect founders with the right coaches, peers, and supporters
- Squad - form a squad and have office hours to check-ins on growth, deepen understanding of users, and iteration of products.
- Demo day – founders present to domain-relevant investors and the wider community with power users.
